01 February 2007 I received an invoice from Scott for the Water Well Storage System. I wrote up what I think about that system then I faxed it all to Kris Gurr. A lot of Area Auditor Work today.
02 February 2007 ....................... Friday Marilee goes to work today. A lot of Area Auditor Work today. I talked with President Brower of the Winnemucca Nevada Stake. I modifed my Ink Jet Printer so it will properly feed in the paper. I put a tube into the left front tire of the Polaris. I put in a grounding wire in the Center Cube. When Marilee gets home from work, We [Marilee, Melissa, Myself] go to eat at FlyingJ. It is very good and we have a great time together.
03 February 2007 ........................ Saturday Marilee and I go to Home Depot and get some things for Paradise. I drive into the ground, almost all the way, a ground rod for the Center Cube!! Marilee works on the Ramada at the Front of the House.
04 February 2007 ..................... Fast Sunday I arrived at the Clerk's Office, for the last time, at 5am. Today I was released as the Ward Clerk. I prepared for Bishopric Meeting, at 6am. I FAXed my January Reports to Dan Dahlgren in SLC. Rick Hedelius is the new Ward Clerk, with Elliot Reynolds the new Financial Clerk. Also Bryan Moody was released as the Elder's Quorum President and Mat Cardon is now the Elder's Quorum President. After the Block, Ray Donaldson and I went home teaching to Deann Lara and Eva Haines. This evening I had a nice supper/breakingofthefast with Marilee and Melissa. I enjoyed both the food and the company.
05 February 2007 ........................ Monday Marilee and Melissa and I go to Casa Grande. I look for a Jack Hammer at Lowe's, HomeDepot, and the tool store in between. Lowe's don't have any. The other two do but will not rent them. I only need it long enough to drive in two 8' Ground Rods. We go for a short visit with Bridgette and Gaia and we get a photo of Gaia while there. I work on Area Auditor stuff and on Well Agreement Stuff. I call Levi to confirm that Shari/Butch will be attending his wedding. For supper Marilee fixed tacos and they were great, maybe "the best" tacos EVER!!! For Family Home Evening I give a lesson on the Eternal Plan of Salvation. It seemed to be well received by Marilee and Melissa. We had some good discussion during and after the lesson. Marilee read to us from her book, "The Atonement". We a learning a lot from that book.
06 February 2007 ....................... Tuesday Marilee and Melissa go to the Doctor today for some UltraSound work. I do some inspection of the Well and I update my Well Journal. I have a talk with President Frost of the Flagstaff Stake as we firm up my training session there next Sunday. Marilee finishes the Fence/Wall from the front gate to the house. It looks very nice. I do a little work on the Boat. I verify that Scott has been paid from the Well Agreement, but I still do not know if he has been paid from Kris.
07 February 2007 .................. Wednesday Marilee goes to work today.
08 February 2007 ............... Thursday David Pearson and I meet, at the Well, and check the air pressure in the Bladder Tanks. The Northernmost Blue FloTec Tank is down to 25psi after being at 38psi only a week ago. We had hoped Kris Gurr would be there and be in on our discussion and decisions. Kris did not come till later so I just had a very brief talk with him as I was leaving to take Melissa to Banner Desert Medical Center. Melissa's right arm is hurting and we had a the doctors check it out. They put it into a sling. Then Melissa stayed at the Hospital with Marilee and I drove home alone.
09 February 2007 .................... Friday Marilee goes to work today. David Pearson and I replace the Northernmost Blue FloTec Water Pressure Tank. It has a bad bladder and will not hold it's air pressure, plus it is now putting out RUST. We took the failed tank to Evergreen Hardware and they gave us a new one in exchange for it. I mailed to Aermoter the documents [Invoice #187 from Aqua Well Drilling for $1920.00 and Superection 5-year extended warranty] needed for them to pay us for the Warrantied Well Pump that failed. It was Stake Temple Day and I attended the Session that started about 3pm. It was a very small session with no one that I knew in it. I did see Joe Anderson before the session and Al Farnsworth after the session. I also say Marvin Mortensen. Then I saw Alan Bingham and Bishop Cluff and his Wife and also Bishop Cerdhe. Lane Moore called, this evening, to say he did get a Ground Rod Driver and he can come here at 8am and drive the ground rods for me. I learned that Pat is in Banner Desert from surgery so I called Marilee to tell her that but there is not way she can get over to Pat's room to visit her. When Marilee gets home she is very tired from a long hard day at work.
10 February 2007 ..................... Saturday Lane Moore does come at 8am and with his powered Ground Rod Driver attempts to drive in our Ground Rods for the East Cube and for the Center Cube. His ground rod driver is not strong enough and can't even budge them! I get a Rental Car from Enterprise Rent a Car, for my trip to Flagstaff on Sunday. It is a 2007 Colorado with 4wd. I attend the Memorial for Jack Hicks at 2pm in Phoenix. It was great to know some about this great man. I loved being there with my beloved family. There was Dad, Twila, Lamar, Denise, Troy and two of his sons, Barry and Becky and their children, Brenda, Chance, Rory, Rory's Wife, On the way home I visited with Pat in 318A at Banner Desert Medical Center. It was a nice visit and she is getting better after having Surgery.
11 February 2007 ....................... Sunday I go to the church a little early in case our new Ward Clerk, Rick Hedelius, needs any help. He needs a little and I was glad to help. For Sacrament Meeting the Stake Presidency is on the Stand and the Lamoreaux and the Woods family are in the Congregation. We soon learn that is because Les Grover and Ray Donaldson are released as Counselors in the Bishopric and Mike Buis and Jacob Lamoreaux are sustained as counselors in the Bishopric. President Gibson made it known that they had considered also releasing Bishop Cozart but the Lord made it known that was not to happen, at this time. I then drive to the Flagstaff Arizona Stake Center. I am a bit early, like I like to be, and then from 5pm till 7pm I train the Stake Auditors and Audit Committee and Clerks and the Bishop's and their clerks. It goes well and it is an honor to serve the Lord in this way. I drive in a lot of rain, from just past Sunset Point to Flagstaff and back to Sunset Point. There is a lot of snow around Flagstaff but I never had to drive in any of it. There were piles of snow in the Flagstaff Stake Center Parking Lot. I had a really nice, if short, visit with Troy Pond while there. DeeDee is home sick. I also met a cousin, Jim Gilliland. I stop at enterprise, on the way home, and trade out the Colorado for my Silverado. I spend the night with my beloved family, in Paradise.,br>
12 February 2007 ..................... Monday We have a wonderful Family Home Evening. Attending are Marilee, Melissa, Wendell Jr. We eat Baked Potatoes, done just right [fluffy] by Marilee, and Salad done fairly well, by Wendell [smile] Marilee reads to us, from the current Ensign [February 2007], the Article about Temples and Symbolism on page 13. It is Titled "Why Symbols?" and it is very informative and very uplifting. We tie that message in with other messages from President Hinckley and with the last line of the Hymn "We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet" which says that "they who reject this glad message shall never such happiness know". Symbolism can hide it's message from the unrighteous and/or or those that just don't believe all that STUFF from the Church or in those Temples BUT those that are righteous and/or are yearning/searching for the highermeanings of this life and the next will "Get It". I hope and pray that all who read this Journal will then read that Article. I testify that it is true. I am saddened to know that there are some who will never even know of the Happiness and Joy of living with our Father in Heaven, in his home, the Celestial Kingdom, simply because they don't believe that STUFF. Please believe me that your heavenly parents and your earthly parents want you to be all you can be. Furthermore please know that you can be as God is!! It don't get better than that!! Please learn ALL about Jesus Christ. He is doing all he can do to get you to exhaltation in the Highest Degree of the Celestial Glory. He has done and will do for you EVERYTHING you cannot do for yourself BUT you must do what you can do for yourself and that is: 1) Choose the Right 2) Follow the Prophet 3) Learn and Live and Like his commandments What are his commandments? Exodus 20 and the Ten(10) commandments are a good place to start. The best way to know "What are God's Commandments", that I can think of is: 1) turn off the TV 2) read the scriptures 3) go to church I also believe the opposite to be true: If you are: 1) Watching TV and 2) NOT reading the scriptures and 3) NOT going to church then you don't even know what his commandments are, so how can you live them???. Please know that while living the Scout Law: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent is a good thing and will get you into the Terrestrial Kingdom It will not get you into the Celestial Kingdom because it is Terrestrial Law - NOT Celestial Law. To get into the Celestial Kingdom/Glory, where you can be all you can be, even as God is, you must live Celestial Law. Celestial Law begins with: 1) Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ 2) Repentance 3) Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins by one who has the Authority to Baptise 4) Laying on of hands for the Gift of the Holy Ghost. that is the beginning, then you spend a lifetime learning the rest of it!![smile] those things will lead you to the Temple and beyond..............the trip is wonderful and the destination is better than that!![big smile]
13 February 2007 ...................... Tuesday Happy Birthday Cody Lara Marilee goes to work at Banner Desert and I to Dr. Gonda. I get a tracfone at wal*mart for $14.88. I get the RF tire of the Silverado repaired at tire pros. I go to the Mesa Arizona Kimball Stake Center and meet with the Audit Committee. I gather more information from Sam Sherwood about the outstanding Deposit Problem with the dissolved Meadowgreen East Ward. I pass on that further information to Dan Dahlgren.
14 February 2007 .................. Wednesday Valentin's Day Marilee goes to work. I put up a poster, onto the Bathroom Mirror that said "Happy Valentin's Day" and I made a Valentines day card for Marilee. I was at Auto Zone by 7:30am to get new rotors for the Malibu they had them and the price was right at $20.00 a pop. When I went to put them on they were the wrong ones![frown] Back to Casa Grande a 2nd time, got my money back from Auto Zone and got the right Rotors from Checker Auto. When I went to put them on they were the wrong ones!![big frown] Back to Casa Grande a 3rd time, got my money back from Checker Auto. I give up on that for the day and did other things such as rotate the tires and clean out the inside of the Malibu and replace the failed "Blind Spot" mirror on the driver's side, Wash Clothers, Wash Dishes, Empty Garbage, etc.
15 February 2007 ...................... Thursday Marilee went to work at Banner Desert Medical Center. Melissa did a LOT of work cleaning the house and getting ready for the trip to San Diego. I drove the Malibu to The Service Center on Sunshine in Eloy. I parked the car on the street. I took off the RF Brake Rotor and took it into the Service Center for machining on the lathe. Then while he was turning the RF Rotor, I went out onto Sunshine and took of the LF Rotor. I then took the LF Rotor in and exchanged it for the RF Rotor which I took back out side and installed onto the LF. I then went back in and paid them $15.00 for the work, got the LF Rotor from them, took it outside and put it onto the RF. Now the Malibu works GREAT. Nice, smooth stops. It was a lot of work, but it was worth it. I dragged the big stock tank into Orion's pen and filled it with water. I bought 2 bales of hay, at Wuertz Farm, put them into the trunk of the Malibu, then put them into the pen with Orion. He should be just fine for awhile! I stopped and told David Pearson that we will be leaving, tomorrow, for San Diego and will not be back till Monday. He does not need to do anything, I just wanted him to know. My expense reimbursment checks, December and January, came from the Audit Department and I put that into Chase Bank. I wrote a rough draft of a demand letter to Scott, Aqua Well Drilling, requesting/demanding 5 things 1) conduit on wiring, 2) dhp back down 40 feet, 3) hook float to relay, 4) give us documentation, 5) give us written warranty.
16 February 2007 ................ Friday Marilee, Melissa, Myself drive to San Diego, for Levi/Priscilla's marriage. It is a very nice trip with a stop for food/gas in Yuma. We get food at Carl's Jr. and it was very good. We stop momentarily at Levi's house, just to say we did. In San Diego we check into the Old Town Inn then we meet the kids at Old Town Historic Park and have a really nice visit there. The highlight of our visit there was "The Mormon Battalion". It was great and I learned even more then I knew before. In the evening we went to the home of Priscilla's Parents. It is a lovely home right near the Old Town Historic Park and I we had a wonderful time. I loved talking to and listening to Tom, Priscilla's Father.
17 February 2007 ................ Saturday Levi/Priscilla married today! Some of us eat at the Old Town Inn. Levi comes and goes with us to "Waffle House" for breakfast. Attending that are Marilee/Wendell, Levi, Ann, Sofia, Joey, Michelle, Sara/David, Melissa, Brent. It is a nice place and the food is good. Wedding takes place at the Chapel in the Old Town Historic Park. Judge David Gill is the official that marries them. There is a guitar player that is really good. Sara and Charlotte each have a part on the program. In the evening we go to a really nice place down town. It is a really good time with a lot of people there. I sit between Marilee and the Cousin. Priscilla only has one Cousin and I sat by him. I am glad I did because he was a good guy to get to know. He loves San Diego and says he will never leave it. Sofie is really tired and Ann has her hands full taking care of her. I walk outside, with Ann/Sofia and then we walk around the block, ending up looking through the windows into where every body is eating. It was an enjoyable time with Ann/Sofia. While eating, Tom asks me what is my favorite movie. I reply "True Grit" with John Wayne and that sparks a lot of converstation that goes on for a long time. Tom says he like "Stage Coach" with John Wayne, even better.
18 February 2007 ............ Sunday Marilee and I go to church with Shari/Butch/Rachel/Rebecca/Sariah/Hannah/Seth/Eden. We get to their home a little early and just have a wonderful time getting reaquainted with everyone, seeing Eden for the first time. She is beautiful!, they all are [smile] Marilee goes back to Old Town Inn, after Sacrament Meeting, but I stay for the whole time. I was glad to be there in the High Priest's Group and learned from a good lesson about the Atonement. After church I ride with Shari/Butch back to their home. While Butch and Shari prepare dinner, I entertain the children with www.wendelleyring.com. Of all the thing on www.wendelleyring.com the thing the children enjoyed the most was the animals!!! It was a wonderful time for all today! We then read scriptures and have discussions about what we read. I call Marilee and have her come and get me and we arrive home [Old Town Inn] in time to go with the kids [David, Sara, Joey, Michelle, Brent] [Ann, Sofia, Melissa choose to stay home] to Charlotte's Apartment for a get together of family and friends there. Charlotte is just 3 stops away, on the Trolley. Works out really well and we have another nice visit with Tom and Sylvia.
19 February 2007 ........... Monday Raining in San Diego. We all eat breakfast there at the Old Town Inn. then We, Marilee, Melissa, myself, take Sara and David to tour the campus of San Diego State University. It is a nice trip and an interesting Campus. We are rained on the whole time. We then take Sara/David back to Old Town Inn and leave them there. From there we, Marilee, Melissa, Myself, drive to Paradise. We drive in solid rain almost all the way to El Centro. We go to Levi's house to get a few things and to throw out a dead cat we find behind his house. On the way out of Yuma we get food at KFC. The traffic on I8 is very heavy because of all the people that spent the weekend in the Sand Dunes. Just past Wellton, as I am passing two 18 wheelers, the RF tire goes flat. It was not a blowout, but it went down very fast and I did not make it past the 2nd 18wheeler, but had to cut between them, to the right shoulder of the road and we got stopped safely!. I had Melissa get out of the car and stand off on the right of the freeway, for safety, Marilee helps, a lot, and we get the flat tire changed in about 5 minutes!!! Back on the Freeway we are not running at restricted speed because of the "donut" type spare tire. All the Sand Dune hotshots do not like a slow car on the freeway, but we need to get home just as badly as they do and we are not crippled!! Next of all we run into a Border Patrol traffic stop and we must be stuck in that for over an hour. Before we get to the inspectiion spot, the take down the restriction and turn all the traffic loose. Well, but that time there must have been 20 miles of Sand Duner's piled up behind us and they all wanted to be going 85 miles an hour and we were stuck about about 55 miles an hour. Lot of mad discourteous people those Sand Dune people!!! Seems that most of them got off I8 at Gila Bend. When we finally got to Paradise, we had been in the car for about 10 hours and we were really glad to get out of the car. But we were home safe and believe me it is true "Be it ever so humble, there is no place like home"... Paradise never looked so good. I was soooo glad to be out of San Diego. 3 days in a big city is all I can take!!!
20 February 2007 ............. Tuesday Marilee goes to work and Melissa goes to Tucson to get Ann and Sofia and bring them here for the rest of the week. Marilee drives the Silaverado because I have to take the Malibu to Casa Grande and get a new tire on it. I work on Area Auditor stuff and Well Agreement Stuff. I send a letter to both David Pearson and Kris Gurr that I hope they will approve and we can then send to Scott, demanding that he fix the well the way we want it fixed. After all, we just paid him almost $7,000.00 and we are not at all satisfied with what he did!!!. Marcus sends the 2nd Issue of "A more Perfect Union" and I call him to see if he can send it in electronic format, making it much easier for me to post on "www.wendelleyring.com" He says he will do that tomorrow. It is a happy time when Marilee arrives home and we have here Marilee, Ann, Melissa, Sofia.
21 February 2007 ............. Wednesday Ann/Sofia are here today and Marilee does not go to work. Marilee, Ann, Sofia, Bridgette, Gaia, Melissa go to the Renaisssance [spelling] Fesitval, BUT, they learn it only runs during the weekend. They spend the afternoon here and we have a really nice visit. Ann fixes Supper for all of us. It is great. It is something I never had before. Rosemary Corn Cakes and Italian Sausage Stir Fry. I visit with Dave and Nadine Pearson and tell them I have sent a letter to both Dave and Kris outlining what I think should be done with our Well!! Also I get from David a copy of the check for when we paid Preston Well Drilling for replacing our down hole pump in 2003. Aremotor is insisting on an invoice of that event and Preston is refusing to give us one. My renewal of pills comes from Express Scripts today. I call Dr. Gonda for a new prescription since he had called and doubled my glipizide. He informed me that he had not doubled my glipizide, he had quadrupled my glipizide. Guess I am going downhill fast than I thought. [frown]
22 February 2007 ...................... Thursday I arise early and go to work in the office. Beautiful Sunrise and I get to share it with Ann, Sofia and Melissa. I take Sofia out to visit with Oreo and Orion. It is a very enjoyable time for all of us. Sofia loved it and so did It. I receive, in the Mail, an audit from the Winnemucca Stake. I take it to Casa Grande and fax it to SLC. I rent a Heavy Duty Jack Hammer from High Grade Rentals, take it to paradise and drive in the Ground Rods for the East and Center Cubes, then take it back to High Grade Rentals. It worked great.
23 February 2007 ................ Friday I did a lot of Area Auditor work. I called SLC to see why they have not yet entered the Audit I FAXed them, from the Winnemucca Nevada Stake and I learned that the Service Missionaries do not enter Audits on Friday!!
24 February 2007 .................. Saturday Up at 3am so we can take Ann/Sofia to Sky Harbor for their flight back to North Carolina. Sorry to see them go, but that is always part of the deal when loved ones come to visit. [smile][frown] I get the east cube grounded, finally!! I put the last piece of tin on the roof of the west cube, finally!! Marilee and I go eat supper at Flying J. It was very good, as usual. We drove of to home teach Troy Nichols but he is not there so I leave a card so he will know I was there.
25 February 2007 ...................... Sunday I received an e-mail from Rob and I responded to it. I love communicating with Rob and I appreciate what he is doing for us, fighting the terrorist, on the other side of the world, so we don't have to fight them here!! Thank you Rob. Marilee, Melissa and I attend the Arizona City Ward Meetings at 9am to 12:01pm. It seemed better than usual today, with Brother Bates our High Counsel Speaker and Sister Turley his companion speaker. We are getting used to seeing Brother Buis and Brother Lamoreaux on the Stand with Bishop Cozart, rather than Brother Grover and Brother Donaldson. I then sat by Marilee and Melissa in Sunday School Class. I attended High Priest Quorum meeting and in fact I was the instructor there today. Lesson was page 59, President Hinckley, in the November 2006 Ensign. It went well and I learned a lot. After the Block we were Home Taught by Richard and Sharon Hardy and we Home Taught Sister Patty Purcell. We did the 4 lesson, The Ten Commandments, out of "Preach My Gospel". It went well and we all learned and re-learned a lot. I then got the treat of spending the rest of the day, here in Paradise, with my precious family. I called the home of Marcus/Chelsey, who are expecting our 4th Great Grandson, tomorrow, and I got to visit with Marcus and Wendy. Wendy/Bubba are there for Wendy's Birthday, tomorrow, and for the expected arrival of their 4 Grandson. WOW, what a happy time!! I told Marcus that I now have his "A More Perfect Union", 2nd edition, posted on www.wendelleyring.com. Marcus said that he would send me his first issue so I can also post it. After dark, in the cool air, Marilee and I sat outside by the fireplace and enjoyed a nice warming fire. Tim called and we had a nice visit with him. Brad came to visit for awhile and I encouraged him to play the piano for us. He is learning and what we heard, sounded good. Sandra sent me an e-mail, suggesting that I e-mail Cousin Carl Geiger, because he has expressed a desire to know more about his Eyring Side. I did that and told him I would love to tell him more about his Eyring side and that I knew his mother very well since she was the youngest of her generation and I was the oldest of my generation and since we lived right next to each other.
26 February 2007 ...................... Monday Happy Birthday -- WENDY Happy Day of Birth -- Andrew Jackson Smith I became a father Forty Seven(47) years ago today. I love it. [big smile] I became a Great Grandfather, again, today, with the Birth of Andrew Jackson Smith to Marcus and Chelsey Smith in Salt Lake City Utah. This morning I already have a response from Carl Geiger and he is indeed wanting to communicate more and learn more about his Eyring Side. Marilee goes to Dr. Wilson for Eye Exam. I do more work on the tin roof on the West Cube. After buying more of the special, neopreme washer screws, I finish the job. For Family Home Evening we have Marilee, Melissa, Brad and we eat Domino's Pizza and read from 8th Chapter of Ecclesastis [The Preacher]. It goes really well.
27 February 2007 .................. tuesday We arise at 3am and take Melissa to Sky Harbor for her flight to visit Ann in North Carolina, via Atlanta. I talk with Kris Gurr about buying the property next door. Marilee and I go eat lunch at Flying J. I go to the KK Building for training of Steve Brandt as he does his first Audit with the Casa Grande 1st Ward and Bishop Lannon.
28 Febrruary 2007 ........................ Wednesday Marilee goes to work today. 09:10amMST -- I just received call from Sandra at Aremotor and she now says that they will NOT compensate us for the failure on our Down Hole Well Pump because we did not use one of their dealers to replace the Motor. Of course that was because Preston Drilling told us that Aermoter was out of business so we then had Scott of Aqua Well Drilling replace the pump so aremotor is off the hook and will not do anything for us!!!! We got gyped because of Preston Drilling!! I went to the Mesa Arizona Central Stake Center where I met Tracy Skousen and did training for the Audit Committee and the Auditors and the Financial Clerk. It went very well and there was a really good Question/Answer period after I finished my presentation. On my way home as I was traveling south on LaPalma and had to wait for traffic at LaPalma and 287, at the stop sign there, the traffic was Marilee, as she was coming home from work. So I followed her, south on LaPalma all the way to Paradise. Sure was good to see her and we enjoyed Lasagne and home made bread together!! [big smile]
