Journal for February of 2004
2004 is Leap Year
February will have 29 Days
February will have 5 Sundays!!
01 February 2004 ...................................... Sunday
Marilee went to work today.
Melissa's right ear is still hurting.
David and I went Home Teaching this morning. It was really good. Our Families had read the 1st 45 pages of the Book of Mormon and we had some good discussions about it. Sonja did not answer the gate so we went to her Mom's who told us that Sonja is just fine, probably just did not hear us.
Dave and I went home to pick up Melissa then we went to Church.
I substitute taught the "Gospel Doctrine" Class today, because Marilee was at work.
After Brother Grover and I finished doing the donations, We [David, Rachel, Melissa, Myself] went to Darren's for Taco Sunday. Marilee was already there, when we arrived. It was a very good visit. Attending were Dad, Myself, Marilee, David, Rachel, Melissa, Darren, Julie, Jared, Matthew, Bandon, Courtney, Lauren, Kelly, Michelle, Emily, Jessica, Jessica, Lindsay, Luke, April, Dan, and a number of Neighbor Kids.
Then Marilee, Myself, David, Rachel, Melissa went to Visit Grandmother, Laree, Keith, Jeremy, Trevor, Keith Alan and others.
Coming home, Marilee drove the Silverado and I rode with her, David drove the Malibu and Rachel/Melissa rode with him.
Then we had another very nice visit after we were back in Paradise.
02 February 2004 ...................................... Monday
20 degrees this morning.
Marilee took the children to seminary/school.
We put in another Post, today. Thank you Levi!!
I put the Silverado up on Jacks, because it needs a l of work.
We had a wonderful Family Home Evening and studied Paragraph #2 of "The Family; A Proclamation to the World", by the First Presidency and the Quroum of the Twelve Apostles.
03 February 2004 ...................................... Tuesday
Marilee off today. I took the Children to school/seminary so she could sleep in. I had a wonderful experience this evening!!! Wendy Called Me!!
Wendy and I had a really nice talk. Tomorrow, Isaac is signing up to go play football at Weber State in Ogden. He is getting a very good deal and is really excited to get to play Football in College.
We talked about Joshua and Lara and Marcus and Traci and Jordan.
At 9pm I picked up David and Central Arizona College. I drove the Impala because the Silverado is being worked on.
04 February 2004 ...................................... Wednesday
I took the Children to Seminary/School, in the Impala. I did get the Silverado running today, but the transmission still is not right. I drove the Impala when I took Melissa from School to Dr. Stack then back to School. We did get a Blizzard along the way
I did drive the Silverado to pick up David from High School today.
This evening, David drove the Malibu, taking Melissa with him to Mutual.
As I was walking back from feeding the Horses I saw one of the most spectacular "Falling Stars" I have ever seen. It was big and bright. It was slow moving and it lasted for a very long time as it gradually fell from "Orion" down and a bit to the west almost going all the way down to the Southern Horizon.
05 February 2004 ...................................... Thursday
29 degrees this morning
I take David/Melissa to Seminary/School.
I buy the ingredients and then make a large pot of chili, for the Daddy/Daughter outing on Friday - 6 February 2004.
I buy 8 twenty foot lengths of 1/2 inch rebar for the stem of the center Cube.
I also buy 8 holddowns which will be poured into the stem then later nailed to the studs of the center cube.
I start to clean off the top of the footing so we can pour the stem for the Center Cube.
I pick up David, at Casa Grande High School, at 05:30pm. Marilee picks up Melissa at Bogle Junior High School at 05:45pm.
Marilee and Melissa stop at Paradise for awhile then the go to Tucson to get Bridgette who then spends the night with us.
06 February 2004 ...................................... Friday
25 Degrees this morning.
at 5am we take delivery of 10 tons of ABC, from Cemex/Keith Johnson.
Marilee's left shoulder is really hurting a lot this morning. She goes to work anyhow!!
Bridgette is here this morning. I take David and Melissa to Seminary/School.
In the eveing, Bridgette, Melissa, Myself, drive to North Mountain Park where we stay all night for the Arizona City Ward - Daddy Daughter Outing.
It is a good thing I took two(2) pots of Chili, because the small pot of soup that the Ward furnished did not go very far and there would have been a lot of hungery people without the chili. And it was very cold!! Not as cold as 2001 but still very very cold.

Dear Family: As some of you have already heard, Dan and I are making plans to move back to the Southwest this summer. I am beginning the application process to get a teaching job in the Valley of the Sun or possibly in the Clark County district in Nevada. If you know any schools/districts who need music teachers, I could use all the tips and contacts I can get! From the feedback I received so far, if I teach in AZ, I will have to report for work the last week of July. That leads to a scheduling problem with the reunion. As you know, the reunion is scheduled for July 28,29 here in Oregon. Here are some suggestions I have: 1. Move the date for a week or two. That would depend on availability of campsites and whether your vacation dates are set in stone. 2. Move the reunion to Utah over the 4th of July. Dan and I are buying tickets to the Freedom Festival to see Reba McIntire so I know we will be there that weekend. 3. Keep the date and place the same and cross our fingers on scheduling conflicts. If I can't be here, that would leave Dan in charge. Scary!! 4. Keep the date, but move the place to another Valley of the Sun reunion. 5. Cancel the reunion for this year or put someone else in charge. Please respond ASAP with your opinions and suggestions. I would like to hear what you would suggest as well as which solutions you want to avoid. Also, I know I don't have everyone's email address. Please forward this to any family member who didn't receive this message. Thanks, April
WAIT A MINUTE! My whole deal on this thing is to see Oregan - don't care so much about who's there or what they're doing - just to see Oregan. OK, it would be nice to see some extended family while we're at it. What about late June or the week end after the 4th? Darren =========================================
07 February 2004 ........................................... Saturday
Lots of things going on today!! Daddy/Daughter Outing at NorthMountain Park - Johnson's put up their fence - I dug 18 Fence Post Holes with the Auger that Johnsons had rented for their Fence work - We poured the Stem for the Center/South Cube - Sub Sandwiches, in the evening.
Bridgette, Melissa, Myself, the Arizona City Ward, awoke at North Mountain Park, FREEZING, this morning.
Helping us pour the Stem for the Center/South Cube were: Wendell, Marilee, Bridgette, David, Melissa, Rachel, Ashley, Rocky, Conner.
08 February 2004 ........................................... Sunday
Marilee teaches the Gospel Doctrine Class but I miss that because I am attending the Teacher Trainer Class.
09 February 2004 ........................................... Monday
Marilee went to work at Banner Desert and I took Melissa/David to Seminary/School. Bridgette stayed here in paradise.
I was so busy and behind today that I am sure noone wants to hear about it so I am not going to tell you!!!!!!!

are you desert sun baked people all luticrous? July in the valley? Hello, is anybody home? Is the light on but nobody's home? Can you spell 130 degrees? I was wondering if I could jibber using only questions? Could we please have some non-desert rats respond to these ultimatims? Wouldn't it be nice to leave the desert heat and be in Eden for a week? Does school really start in the desert heat in the middle of July? Is there any common sense left in the world? Do you have any experience teaching music? Have you considered Mesquite? Has anyone considered Mesquite? Is Mesquite worth considering? Am I rambling? Did I use spell check? Am I done yet? Is this goodbye? Tim?
10 February 2004 ........................................... Tuesday
29 Degrees this morning.
Marilee went to work at Banner Desert. Andrew took David/Melissa to Seminary/School.
Bridgette and I take the forms off from the stem for the Center Cube. Then we level the dirt and start hauling the ABC into the floor area.
Hold on here . . . did someone mention camping? In Mesa? In July? Will we be close to motels? UTAH UTAH UTAH UTAH UTAH UTAH UTAH Actually it would be good to have it where Grandpa can attend . . . as long as there are places to stay with air conditioning. From Allison
So looks like the Oregon thing is changing. Well if they do it in AZ at least Hank and Dad will be able to go, but then Shari wont go, too hot. Some people are so spoiled there in SANDIEGO and have forgotten how to SWEAT!!! Hee hee Anyway – I say we just have our own the 2nd weekend of August in Williams. That’s what I say. Forget everyone else. Then if some want to go to Aprils reunion, great, if not, great. Who voted on this thing anyway? No one told me that we were going to the Grandpa’s Reunion instead of Shari being in charge. Shari is the one that told me. Which is totally wrong because I am sure somewhere in the by-laws it says that you have to talk to the others before making decisions. Well, whatever, the truth is I really don’t give a fat rat what we do, I just have to be opinioniated, so that’s my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt or a mountain of salt. But, just the same, keep me informed, I may be the baby but I still need to know whats up, and would EVERYONE please change my email address - !!!!!! tiffhansen@eyrings.com
11 February 2004 ........................................... Wednesday
29 Degrees this morning.
Marilee goes to work at Banner Desert and I take David/Melissa to Seminary/School.
Bridgette and I finish putting the ABC under the floor of the Center Cube. We pack it down real good.
I pick up Melissa, from school, at 01:30pmMST. We then take some paper work to Dr. Stack, then get postage at Post Office, then get the "Drive Clutch Puller" from Town and Country, in Chandler, then go to Harbor Freight Tools where I learn that they do not sell Car Ramps!. Melissa and I went into Basha's to get something to eat. Then Melissa and I drove to Casa Grande High School, where we picked up David and then drove home to Paradise. Marilee and Bridgette were here, in Paradise, when we arrived. Marilee had received some new rose bushes today and she was excitedly getting them into the ground.

By-Laws have most assuredly been bent. You should file a complaint. Or is that what you just did. I vote for having the reunion in my back yard with no activities beginning until after 10am which is when I would like to sleep in til each day. I'll bet I don't get that. Better yet - How about in Shari's back yard!!! Thanks and have a great day, Hank Eyring ValveReplacement.com Founder
12 February 2004 ........................................... Thursday
28 Degrees this morning.
Marilee and Bridgette and Melissa and Myself drove the Silverado to Tucson. We went to Levi's Old Apartment, Brent's New Apartment, loaded up Bridgette's things then drove back here to Paradise.
13 February 2004 ........................................... Friday
28 Degrees this morning.
Cody Lara was born this day [February 13th] in 1990, so he is now 14 Years Old.
This eveing, Melissa babysits for the Matthews, while they attend the Casa Grande Stake "Valentines Day Dinner and Dance".
Marilee and I also attend the Casa Grande Stake "Valentines Day Dinner and Dance".
The food and the company and the music are great and we have a really good time. We sit at the table with the Dawsons and the Stauffers and the Deweys.
Also We have a really nice visit with the Beattys. Ashley is with them since her babysitting job fell throught.
David is doing a lot of "Catch Up" work right now, trying to complete his Eagle Scout, before he turns 18, in April.

I am now changing my vote. I was in strong support of having it in Oregan no matter if Dan & April lived there or not! Now, we're probably gonna go to Washington to see Julie's new neice anyway, so have the reunion wherever everyone else decides. Dearest Family, I love you all and I look forward to our next Reunion. As for 2004: The Wendell Haws Eyring Jr. Family [those of us that live here in "Paradise"] are not likely to be traveling out of state, just too pressed to finish Paradise and keep all these old broken down vehicles running..................... My VOTE????: I vote for a reunion, right here IN "Paradise". ------------ Love, Laddy, Daddy, Brother, Son, FRIEND ==================================== PS. --------- I always wondered why we tend to say: [All My Friends and Relatives] As if that were two seperate groups! My friends are my Relatives and My Relatives are my Friends and I LIKE IT THAT WAY!! =======================================
14 February 2004 ......................................... Saturday
David and I move a lot of ABC over by the house so Marilee can plant her new roses in it.
I get the Transmission out of the Polaris.

This evening, Melissa baby sits for the Matthews while all of us attend the Arizona City Ward - Progressive Supper, starting at the home of Jimmy and Karen Stewart.
It is a wonderful evening and The Unger's and The Eyring's go for the Main Course at the home of the Hogle's. It was a wonderful time for us to get to know both of them.
Then we finish up by going to the Home of the Ethington's. We have some really good Refreshments at the lovely home of the Ethington's. Even better that that was the great visiting with the Members of the Arizona City Ward.

I failed to take any photos while at the Ethington's!! I had the Camera in my pocket, but I was having such a good time I forgot to use it.

On our way home we stop by the Matthew's to pick up Melissa and take her home with us.
15 February .............................. Sunday
Marilee teaches the Gospel Doctrine Class today and I attend it, because she asked me to be there to read "The Psalm of Nephi".
After Church, Brother Grover and I do the Donations then Marilee, David, Melissa and Myself drive to the Home of Kenneth and Angela Johnson for "Taco Sunday" and for the blession of Matthew and Joshua, the twin sons of Tiffany Johnson. We have a really nice visit and most of Marilee's siblings were there.
16 February 2004 .................................... Monday
31 Degress this morning.
David/Melissa do not have school today.
Melissa is not here this morning. She is at Grandmother's.
David works on "Eagle Scout" most of the day.
Then Rachel and Thomas come over to wash clothes and do homework.
I start off the day by working on www.wendelleyring.com and getting the photos from the Ward Progressive Supper and from the Blessing of Matthew and Joshua up so they can be seen.
I get two bales of Almuda Hay, from Wuretz Farm. I take 1/2 bale of that to Hatch's so as to repay the Hay we borrowed on Saturday because we had run out of Hay.
I build a Stand/Pedastal/Ramp for putting the Silverado into the air so I can work on the Transmission.
17 February 2004 .............................. Tuesday
I built another Pedastal/Ramp, for the Silverado, today. This one is higher than the last one that I built.
I put a new Chain into the Chain Case of the Polaris and then I put the Chain Case back into the Polaris.
18 February 2004 ......................... Wednesday
Marilee goes to work at Banner Desert, leaving at about 5am.
Andrew is here, so he drives the children to school.
19 February 2004 ............................. Thursday
I got the Polaris running!!!! Yeah!! It has been broken down for a couple years and I finally got it running.
20 February 2004 ............................. Friday
I put a new battery and a new HeadLamp Bulb, in the Polaris, Well I would have put a new Headlamp Bulb in the Polaris BUT Polaris did not have one so I ordered one.
Marilee and I went for a ride on the Polaris, that was a lot of fun. We took Shade with us.
When David got home from school, he took the Polaris for a spin. He really liked that and it brought back some fond Memories to him.
This eveing I took Marilee, David, Melissa, out to eat at "Flying J".
21 February 2004 ............................. Saturday
Cloudy and cool today.
I have diarrhaea all day so I do not eat, hoping that will make it go away.
Big dissapointment today........I pulled the Silverado up onto the Ramps that we used with the Malibu, yesterday, and the Silverado "Crushed" them!! Guess they weren't such a good idea after all.
I took David, Melissa, Amanda, to the Stake Center, getting them there at 06:05amMST. They have a work day today, up on Casa Grande Mountain.
Marilee Left for Banner Desert at about 07:00amMST.
About the time that Marilee came home from work, I got chilled and began to shiver. I got into bed with the heater and a lot of extra blankets and nothing helped! I laid there and shivered for about an hour, before I finally settled down.
Marilee was right with me the whole time and periodically checked my Temp. finding that during this period of time it went up to about 104 degrees, then back down again.
22 February 2004 ............................. Sunday
Marilee went to work at Banner Desert.
I did not get up until about 10am. I had a hangover, I guess you would call it.!!

29 February 2004 ............................. 5th Sunday
RARE to have a 5th Sunday in February

This is the 29th of February. That only happens once every four years. This is Leap Year.
This is the 5th Sunday this month. That can ONLY happen on a Leap Year and even then ONLY if February 1st was a Sunday. I wonder how long it will be before that happens again????
After I finish with donations, after Church, I drive to Mitchell's, where I meet Marilee, David, Melissa for a Potluck Supper. The Seitz's were also there.
We have good food and good visiting and the Mitchell Family gave us Casper, the friendly [and HUGE] Cat. Casper is totally white, and a very nice, if large, cat.
Then at 7pm I was at the Stake Center for a Stake Priesthood Leadership Meeting, with a special Meeting for Financial Clerks.
