November 2003 - Journal
01 November 2003 ....................... Saturday
Nice and cool today. There is just David and Myself around here today.
Marilee and Melissa are in Salt Lake City, visiting with Sara.
David and I kind of take it easy, but we do move the horses and we do did dig the footing for the next Cube.
In the evening, David takes the Malibu and goes to a movie with his friends.
David told me that he would be home at 11:00pmMST and by golly he WAS home at 11:00pmMST. Way to go David. I had him read me a Bible Story and I went to sleep happy that I have such a good son as David Thomas.
02 November 2003 ............................... Sunday
David and I go Home Teaching this morning, starting with Jack Haines at 10:00amMST.
Then we visit Sonya's Brother because Sonya was not there, at the moment.
We the have nice Home Teaching Visit with the Lara Family in Arizona City. They are good people and we enjoy visiting there.
David and I attend Arizona City Ward at 1pmMST. After the meetings I do the donations with Brother Les Grover. Then Dave and I drive home to Paradise.
Later this eveing Marilee and Melissa arrive home from Salt Lake City, where they have been visiting Sara.
05 November 2003 ...................... Wednesday
This morning it was 34 Degrees when we awoke........Now that IS cold. Guess the Bermuda won't be growing anymore this year.
06 November 2003 ....................... Thursday
At last, my first GOOD Day, since my retirement, last Thursday. Each day has been an unpleasant experience for one reason or another, until today.
Well, Happy Retirement to me.
I am so busy that I don't really know what Retirement means.........
07 November 2003 ............................... Friday
Today I received my LAST Paycheck from Calence, Inc. It was a little bigger than usual because I got payed for the PTO Time that I had no used.
Goodbye, Calence. I hope you have a good life.
I sat down and sent off a lot of payments so now I again have no money
I did not take David and Melissa to school today, because Andrew spent the night, and he has a car, so he drove them to school.
09 November 2003 .......................... Sunday
Melissa is still sick today, so she stays home from church.
David, Marilee and Myself have a really good scripture discussion, mostly about the Book of James, starting at 12:55pmMST. Then at 01:20pmMST we all go, together in the Silverado, to the Arizona City Ward, at the Casa Grande Stake Center.
Very nice day today!
In Sacrament Meeting, the Mitchell girl, Myriah [13?], gives a great talk in Sacrament Meeting.
Marilee teaches the Gospel Doctrine Class today. The subject matter is the "Book of James", in the New Testament. What a wonder book of scripture!!. I wish that every person on other on Planet Earth would read and live by the "Book of James". Sure would be a better world to live on.
And Marilee...........she made it live, she made it so real, she made ALL of USS want to go home, read James, and change our lives accordingly.
Thank you Marilee!
In High Priests Group Meeting, I teach lesson number 21 "Strengthening the Family". All the High Priests were on such a "high" from Marilee's class on the "Book of James" that I just went on with that for awhile, and the that discussion rolled VERY nicely into today's lesson on "Strengthening the Family". It was a natural and all I had to do was add in some of the teaching from President John Taylor, about families. It went very well.
Marilee and David had a nice friendly, leisurly visit, in the lobby, while Brother Ray Donaldson and Myself took care of the Donations, in the Clerk's Office. Then we dropped the money into the bank, Bro. Donaldson went back to the church and then David, Marilee and Myself drove home to Paradise, where we found Melissa to be just fine.
We then had a wonderful evening together, including a "Lively and Interesting" discussion about putting a bridge over the Irrigation Ditch.
It was fun, I wish you could have heard it......Melissa was sick and disinterested, but could not resist and came over to join in the fun, even though her throat is so sore she could be heard when she spoke.
10 November 2003 ............................. Monday..Rain Today, NOT MUCH, but, Rain Today
This morning I drive David to Seminary. Melissa is still sick and she is staying home from school today.
Marilee and I burn weeds, setting fire to the manure in the horse corral. So we then set the sprinkler running, in the horse corral, so that after a while the manure stop smoldering and smoking. Later I put Orion into the big orange horse coral, since we are running out of pasture. We will now have to start buying hay, until the grass starts growing again, in the spring.
Marilee and I drive the Silverado to Wuertz Farm where we buy 3 bales of good alfalfa hay for $6.00 per bale. We unload those bales right by Orion's pen and we cover then with a tarp because it is sprinkling.
Later Marilee and I drive to Arizona City, Hardy's, where we load up three (3) sheets of siding that they said we could have.
In the evening We, Marilee, Melissa and Myself, watch "The Sum of all Fears" from the book by "Tom Clancy". It is good, but not as good as the book.
Just as the moving is finishing up, David and Andrew arrive home from "Blue Notes" practice.
11 November 2003 .................................... Tuesday
No School today..........
Marilee leaves for work at 05:45amMST. She sure wanted to stay home with all of us today. Plus we have Andrew here with us today.
12 November 2003 ......................... Wednesday .......... rained all day
Marilee went to work in Mesa and I took David to Seminary.
It rained continually until along in the after noon, I put the Silverado and the Impala out on Blair Road so as to be sure we could get out of here, if it decided to add and nightlong downpour to what we got during the day.
As I was walking, in the rain, out to feed Orion, as I was crossing the ditch, I fell down, flat on my back. That hurt, but nothing like when I fell off the ladder!!
The telphone keeps working, in the rain, but we cannot not connect with our ISP today.
In the evening I take David to Mutual in Arizona City. While he is there I drive to Albertson's in Casa Grande and fill the Silverado with fuel.
13 November 2003 ................... Thursday
Marilee leaves for work, Banner Samaratin, leaving Paradise at 05:45amMST.
I take David to school at 06:30amMST. Lots of fog.
After I drop off David, I go to Fry's to get some Lemons for Melissa, who is still home sick.
I then go over to Tire Pro's and have them rotate the tires on the Silverado.
Next I go to Pep Boys where I get an Air Filter for the Silverado. After the terrible Dust Storm that Marilee drove through, on the way to Utah, that pitted the Windshield, I figured I better replace the air filter, so I did.
When I get home, I let Oynx, ONLY, out of the pen, then I take her with me to feed the horses.
I restring the telphone wires, from the power pole, to the house. I run the wires overhead rather than laying across the ground as they have been. I don't have the right stuff and the connections are all corroded and dirty so it don't work very good, but, it is now over head.
In the evening we eat tater tots and clam chowder and watch "Band of Brothers" Part One(1).
14 November 2003 ................... Friday
No rain today, but a lot of things are still wet.
Marilee leaves for work, at Banner Samaratin, leaving Paradise at 05:45amMST.
David and Melissa ride to School at 07:00amMST with Andrew Holm, who spent the night here.
I let Oreo, ONLY, out of the pen, then I take him with me to feed the horses. Oreo is a whole lot more trouble than Onyx was yesterday. In fact the first thing Oreo does is go over to Johnson's, where our dogs are forbidden to go.
I work on the computer for a bit, getting all the pictures, from Marilee's trip to Salt Lake City, off from the Camera and onto the Hard drive I cannot yet put the picture onto www.wendelleyring.com, because our phone line to too bad to support a modem connection.
I go to Radio Shack to get a 200 Foot Cable, for the phone line but they only have 100 Foot Cables and they get $22.00 for that. I get a bunch of phone cable ends.
Shirts to Laundry
Tri Valley Electric but their shortest phone wires are 1000 Feet.
Home Depot for some feet for the kitchen chairs.
Clerk's Office for some Clerk Work.
In the evening we watch "Band of Brothers" Part two(2).
Then, as Marilee goes to bed, I drive to Casa Grande, Desert Valley Care Center, to pick up David, after his CNA Clinical.
15 November 2003 ................... Saturday
Marilee leaves for work, at Banner Desert Medical Center, leaving Paradise at 06:15amMST.
David and Melissa ride to Maricopa with Rachel Beatty.
I STILL cannot yet put the pictures onto www.wendelleyring.com, because our phone line to too bad to support a modem connection.
I move the horses. I work on getting Me desk ready to use.
18 November 2003 ............................. Tuesday
Qwest, Dave, came and repaired our noisy phone line. Now you can hear what a person is saying and now the modem works just fine.
I pick up David, from Casa Grande High School, at 12:30pmMST.
I pick up Melissa, from Casa Grande Middle School, at 03:45pmMST.
It sure is refressing to have the internet working, again.
At about 06:00pmMST, we received a call, via walkie talkie, from Marilee telling us that she will not be home for another couple hours because she has to work late.
I received an e-mail from Our Son, Timothy Lance Eyring, that I liked so well, that I have copied it here for all to see:
----------------------------------------
From: "Tim & Sue Eyring" Add to Address Book To: "dad" Subject: mexico Date: Sun, 16 Nov 2003 21:03:03 -0800 dad, now that you're retired maybe the grand kids can spend more time with you. we will be in mesa for thanksgiving with sue's family. we will return to the valley for Christmas on our way to mexico. The response to this e-mail, that come to my mind is: I, Wendell, having been born of goodly parents ....................
and raised by them to Learn, Live and Like the commandments of God ...................
I thank God and My Parents, that I at least got enough of My life right, that ANYONE would want their children to be around me, so that I could rub off on them.
Thanks be to God the Eternal Father and to his Son Jesus Christ.
Thanks be to Wendell Haws Eyring and Verda Ray.
Thanks be to the many Bishops, Sunday School Teachers, Primay Teachers, School Teachers.
The Scoutmaster [Jesse Gale], The Seminary Teacher [Vaughn Merrill] ........... and so many others.........
They are the ones that made this happen!
19 November 2003 ........................ Wednesday
David, Melissa and Myself had a special treat this morning ..................
Marilee rode with us, as I took David and Melissa to School. We sure did like that.
I combined Blase's pen with Orion's old pen so now Blase has a much larger pen to graze in.
In the evening, for Mutual, I took David to Bishop Cozart's house and I took Melissa to Launni Ethington's house, in Arizona City.
David went on "Splits" with the Missionaries [he loved it!], Melissa had training in CPR.
While they were at Mutual, I got a couple of things at Wal*Mart. I looked at printers, for pricing, because we do not have an operational printer, here in paradise.
When we all arrive at home, Marilee was here and that always brightens our day, to see our beloved Mother and Wife. Thank you Marilee.
20 November 2003 ............................... Thursday
I took David and Melissa to Seminary and Marilee drove to Banner Desert Medical Center.
At 12:30pmMST I pick up David, from Casa Grande High School, and bring him home so he can do some work on WEB pages.
I hooked up the computer parts, that have been laying around, in preparation for getting a computer on my desk.
21 November 2003 ............................... Friday
David and Melissa went to Seminary with Andrew Holm, since he spent the night here.
When Marilee got home from work, we took the Silverado to Home Depot, where we purchased, and had them load, 25 - 80# bags of 3500psi concrete mix [just add water and elbow grease]. We also got a Water Hose TIMER, so we don't use excessive water on the grass, forgetting to turn off the water in an hour!!!!
We moved the 25 bags of concrete from the pickup onto a workbench, so we can go get another load of Concrete, in the morning.
Marilee went to get David, at Midnight, from Desert Valley Care Center, where he is practicing to be a nurse.
22 November 2003 ............................... Saturday
We pour the Footing for The Third Cube. Or the Center Cube. When it is built we will then have, in addition to the House, the East Cube, the Center Cube, the West Cube.
Sure is getting exciting around here!!!!
Cold and Windy and Cloudy today. I wondered if we would get rained out, but we did not get any rain.
Rachel and Thomas [Beatty] came and they helped a lot.
Everybody worked and you need to look at the pictures that were taken today..............Photos AND Movies.
First thing this morning, Marilee and I drove to Home Depot, where we purchased 30 - 80# Bags of 3500psi Concrete Mix. [just add water].
We also got 4 - 20' lengths of 1/2" rebar.
When back home, we added another length of rebar to the one we already had in the trench for the footing for the center cube, making a total of two(2). Should be good and strong.
We jacked up the Cement Mixer, putting blocks under the tires, so that it is now high enough that we do not have to dig a hold to put the Wheel Borrow into for the dumping of the Mixed Cement into it. That worked great! Sure a lot easier to pull the fully loaded Wheel Borrow away from the Mixer, now.
23 November 2003 ............................ Sunday
Bad News .................. David is sick this morning.
So far we have had the following people get sick:
Marilee
Bridgette
Sara
Rachel
Melissa
NOW David. His Temp. is 99.9.
Today is very cool and there is a breeze.
At 01:10pmMST Marilee Melissa and I read scriptures for a few minutes. Then we drive to our meetings with the Arizona City Ward. David stays home sick.
Marilee teaches the Gospel Doctrine Class and her subject material is 1st 2nd and 3rd John. Wonderful lesson. I don't see how anyone can study the New Testament and NOT know that Jesus is the Christ and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is his Church here upon the earth today??????????????
24 November 2003 ................................. Monday - 22 degrees, now that is cold
Marilee goes to work at Banner Desert Medical Center today.
David is still sick so he does not go to Seminary/School. I take only Melissa and I drop her off at Casa Grande Middle School.
02:00pmMST, Rachel comes to get David and take him to Desert Valley Care Center, for his CNA Clinical. I will got get him at Midnight.
27 November 2003 ................................ Thursday - Thanksgiving Day
After Feeding the animals Marilee, David, Melissa, Myself [Wendell] got into the Silverado and drove to Ann and Rob's in Fort Huachuca. It took us about the usual two(2) hours but it seemed like 15 minutes, we were having such a good time.
The trip home took longer, it seemed, because everyone, but me, went to sleep.
Rob demonstarted his new Turkey Cooker!!. It was a bit slow because the Regulator never would reach "Full On". But still, it worked and the Turkey was really good. It is simple a big ole "Deep Fat" Fryer! It holds about 5 gallons of "Peanut Oil", which you get hot, then suspend the entire Turkey in the boiling oil and in about 35 minutes, you have a delicious Turkey.
David and I really enjoyed using Rob's computer, while we were there, because both the Computer AND the Internet Connection are VERY FAST!!!! I like that.
28 November 2003 ........................... FridayBlase got hurt today
Today I excercised Orion, behind the Silverado, and that went quite well and he did not break the new halter I got for him.
Later as I was excercising Blase, behind the Silverado, things did not go so well!
2nd - a little farther down the line, she reared back, fell down, and then could not get up.
After working with Blase for a long time, I stopped that and pulled the RR Brake Line off from the Silverado. I took that Brake Line with me and drove the Impala to Cropper Chevrolet. They cannot get the brake line till Monday, so I said: "Get It".
Later Blase did get up but would not walk anywhere. David took a wheelborrow full of water to her and I took some hay to her. Amanda Johnson and TJ went to see Blase and enjoyed hand feeding some hay to her.
When Marilee arrive home from work, I was down by Blase, putting up some Fence Panels, around her, where she stood. We made sure she had access to Hay and Water, and just let her stand there alone for the night.

29 November 2003 .............................. Saturday
Blase is still standing up this morning.
05:15amMST Marilee and I took David to Desert Valley Care Center, where he is working till Noon, as part of the "Clinical" for his CNA class.
We got some things at Home Depot and a Breakfast Jack at "you know where".
Marilee and I worked with Blaze, who was still standing, but fell down, into the gutter, feet up, when she was bumped with the fence!!
We tried for several hours and Blaze could not get up, so we winched Blaze onto a fence panel and drug her back to Paradise, dragging her onto the pasture, then building a fence around her. Later, she stood up and stayed up all night. That is a good sign.
At noon Marilee went to Casa Grande to get David/Rachel, and to get some parts for the Lamp we are hanging, over the kitchen table. The lamp worked out, really nice, and geatly enhances our house.
Also, Marilee started laying "Green" tile, as a baseboard, in the Kitchen.
Marilee starting laying "White" tile inside the Kitchen window sills. This all really looks and feels GOOD.
30 November ................................... Sunday - Last Day of November
About 32 degrees, in Paradise, this morning.
My right knee is much better, and that is good news.
1pm we read scriptures for awhile, mainly Revelations, which Marilee is teaching today.
01:25pm we leave for Casa Grande Stake Center to meet with the Arizona City Ward. It was a good meeting and "as usual" Marilee class [Gospel Doctrine Class] was great.
Marilee, David, Melissa, waited as Les Grover and I did the donations.
In the eveing, Marilee fixed Spagetti and we had a wonderful supper and visit. After Supper we all cleaned up the house together and it was a very pleasant experience.
